The La Junta Police Department is investigating separate homicides that took place on Thursday and Sunday with one suspect "armed and dangerous," according to a department news release.
On Sunday night, LJPD officers responded to the 100 block of Carson Avenue with reports of shots fired. The release stated a victim was found with a gunshot wound and was transferred to a metro area hospital.
Investigators have identified Chezarary Chavez, 40, as a suspect and he is considered armed and dangerous, police said. He has a felony warrant for his arrest and his location is unknown.
