Emmerdale 's Lawrence Robb has revealed details about a "critical moment" for his character Mackenzie Boyd as he uncovers something significant about John Sugden.

The village antagonist possesses something of a saviour complex, orchestrating dangerous situations by placing people's lives at risk before stepping in at the eleventh hour to appear heroic.

Audiences know that Nate Robinson (Jurrell Carter) was murdered by John last year, and he has since eliminated his former fiancée Aidan Moore (Geoff Dignan) following his recovery from a coma.

In an attempt to conceal his actions, John subsequently allowed GP surgery patient Owen Michaels to perish and framed him for Nate's death.
