PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A nearly 4 1/2-hour standoff involving a man with a knife ended without incident Monday evening in Central Peoria.

A Peoria Police Department spokesperson said officers were called about 4:50 p.m. to the 3000 block of North Woodbine Terrace, near West Forrest Hill Avenue, for an armed man who barricaded himself inside an apartment building. Officers were told the man had a knife and lighter fluid.

Police negotiators, including the co-response unit, were on scene and talked the man into surrendering just after 8 p.m., after which he was taken into custody. A 25News crew also reported seeing police speaking with friends or family members who were led into a mobile unit within the crime scene tape.
