MORTON ( 25News Now ) - After almost 25 years in business, one fall agritourism destination in Morton will close to the public for good this November.
Ackerman Family Farms has been selling pumpkins and providing seasonal family fun to the community since 1999.
Co-owner John Ackerman said he and his wife made the difficult decision to close the gift shop and agritourism section of the farm after feeling financial strain. He said rising costs and increased minimum wage are to blame.
“Labor’s our single largest expense, and the minimum wage has almost doubled in the last six years,” Ackerman said. “Not that it’s wrong, but it affects us and other expenses.”
Ackerman said tariffs on gift shop items have also strained their finances.
“We just feel so blessed for all the things we’ve be
