A Nuneaton pensioner has been found guilty of sexually abusing a child 30 years ago. William Proctor of Heath End Road had denied a string of child sex abuse charges.

But, following a trial at Warwick Crown Court, a jury found the 74-year-old guilty of four counts of rape and four counts of indecent assault on a child under the age of 16. He is now set to be sentenced next month.

Warwickshire Police said that abuse took place between 1991 and 1999, when the victim, who has not been identified, was between the ages of six and 13 years old. Investigating officer DC Russell from Warwickshire Police's Criminal Investigations Department (CID) praised the bravery of the victim for speaking out about the 'dreadful' abuse they suffered.
