Pennsylvania’s state Senate is expected to return to Harrisburg on Tuesday afternoon amid the ongoing state budget stalemate, with House Democrats on Monday passing a bill to avert looming mass transit cuts and ramping up their criticism of what they see as inertia in the opposing chamber.
The path forward for the state’s now six-week-late budget remains nebulous, with the Democratic-majority House holding a rare Sunday session yesterday in order to tee up the transit measure , despite the known objections to it in the Republican-majority Senate.
Democratic leaders also took time Sunday and Monday to rebut arguments being made on social media by Senate GOP leadership, indicating there are still significantly different impressions of the fiscal details involved.
