Construction has begun on a seven-year, multi-phase Community Living Center project at the main campus of the VA Lebanon Healthcare System in South Lebanon Township in Lebanon County.

“In the civilian sector, CLCs (Community Living Centers) are called skilled nursing facilities or nursing homes,” the VA said in a news release.

The five-phase 56-unit project began in April with a groundbreaking ceremony at the medical center. The project includes five buildings — four small houses, each with 14 beds, and a community center. All four houses will connect to the community center.

Each home will have 14 private bedrooms with private bathrooms. Each home will also have a central gathering space with a fireplace and a centralized kitchen.
