Engineers are currently working to restore power to scores of North Staffordshire homes. An outage in Leek this morning saw around 1,781 were without power.

Now National Grid is hoping to get electricity back by around 1pm. The incident is being put down to a 'fault on the high voltage power lines'.

The fault was reported at around 11.10am where, for a brief time, 1,781 properties had no power. But after a few minutes 922 had it back.

Throughout the morning and into this afternoon and engineers have been working to get power back on for the remaining 859.

As of noon and 597 had electricity back - but 262 still had no power.
