While schools such as Michigan (43 rostered players who are seniors or graduate transfers) and Rutgers (50) will lean on experienced rosters this fall, Maryland is a notable outlier with just eight seniors listed on its roster.

Comparing experience across the Big Ten isn’t a perfect science — Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State and Rutgers do not designate redshirt freshmen — but trends still emerge.

Combining the number of true freshmen with redshirt freshmen shows that Nebraska and Penn State lead the pack with 56 players who have four years of eligibility remaining.
