CASSELTON, N.D. — Tommy Butler offered up a three-word answer when asked which games his Central Cass football team are looking forward to the most this season.
“All of them.”
The head coach made it clear the Squirrels aren’t shying away from their new competition in Division 2A this season. Central Cass, along with rival Kindred, are moving up a classification and will compete as members of the Eastern Dakota Conference.
“Love it, absolutely love it,” Butler said. “It’s where we should be. We want that competition, we want to be up at this level. We haven’t won a state championship (since 1980), so it’s not like this elitism where it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, we’re way better than everybody else.’
