GAINESVILLE — Florida landed its first top-50 commitment in the 2026 class when Texas athlete Davian Groce chose the Gators late Monday.

Groce, who plays at Lone Star High in Frisco, rebuffed three schools in the region, Baylor, Houston and Oklahoma, to going Billy Napier’s Gators in Gainesville.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Groce is rated the nation’s No. 4 “athlete” and No. 47 overall recruit, according to 247Sports composite rankings . He totaled 3,175 yards from scrimmage and 34 touchdowns the past two seasons on 267 touches, averaging 11.9 yards, per MaxPreps .

Groce’s decision moved UF’s 2026 class up three spots to No. 13 in 247Sports team rankings .
