Libertyville senior Jack Treutelaar isn’t getting ahead of himself.

Treutelaar, an elite long snapper, understands life is unpredictable.

“I take life as it is, don’t think too much ahead, don’t think in the past and try to live life in the moment because you never know what’s going to happen,” he said.

Treutelaar has learned that lesson as a fundraiser for cancer research. Nearly five years ago, he started contributing his time to Snap Out Cancer for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer, but his efforts became more personal after a family friend named Katherine was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in August 2024.
