GREEN BAY — Jordan Love suffered ligament damage to his left thumb during Saturday night’s preseason loss to the New York Jets, and the Green Bay Packers quarterback was set to undergo a procedure to repair the damage in his non-throwing hand on Tuesday.
General manager Brian Gutekunst broke the news to reporters on Tuesday morning to start his previously scheduled media session, saying Love “is having a little procedure” and that he would miss roughly a week of practice but still be ready for the team’s Sept. 7 regular-season opener against the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field.
“It’ll put him out a little bit a while. Hopefully, we’ll have him back at practice next week. Shouldn’t miss any regular season time,” Gutekunst said.
Asked if Love broke his thumb, Gutekunst called the injury “a
