Iran is attempting to reassert influence in the Middle East by reactivating its militia network following a succession of devastating strikes by Israel and the United States.

Weakened by months of Israeli attacks , as well June’s strikes by the US on its nuclear sites , Iran is reactivating its proxy networks, from militias in Iraq to the Houthis in Yemen, as part of efforts to rebuild its diminished influence in the region, amid fears of renewed conflict with Israel.

Iran appears more willing now to green-light aggression by its proxies than before the 12-day war with Israel, when nuclear talks with the US were ongoing, experts have warned. Iran has warned that it will not resume talks under threat of further attack .
