Ten people were transported to local hospitals, while several others were treated for injuries at the site of the blast

Officials say two people have died and 10 others were treated at local hospitals after the explosion at a U.S. Steel plant in Pennsylvania.

Emergency workers responded to the explosion at the U.S. Steel Clairton Coke Works plant in Clairton, Pa., on Monday, Aug. 11, Kasey Reigner, a public information officer for Allegheny County Emergency Services, said in a statement to PEOPLE. The explosion occurred around 11 a.m. local time.
