Grousbeck is expected to retain his CEO title and be an "alternate governor" after the sale goes through, per Charania and Shelburne.
When Boston Basketball Partners, LLC -- a group led by Grousbeck that had owned a controlling stake in the Celtics since 2002 -- initially announced its intention to sell the team in July 2024, the plan was for Grousbeck to stay on as the club's governor until 2028.
