NORMAN — In a massive recruiting victory for Oklahoma football and head coach Brent Venables, four-star defensive end Jake Kreul announced his commitment to the Sooners Tuesday while live on ESPN.

Kreul chose the Sooners over SEC foes Texas and Ole Miss. He made the reveal during a live interview on the Pat McAfee Show by pulling an OU necklace out from underneath his shirt and grabbing the OU signage on the table in front of him.

“I think the No. 1 thing it came down to was trust,” Kreul said. “I’ve known that coaching staff for a while. (OU defensive ends coach Miguel Chavis) has been awesome to me. I’ve known him for such a long time. He’s kept the same thing the same thing no matter what.
