A Palm Beach woman was arrested for falsely claiming she was driving a car involved in a crash when her 14-year-old son was behind the wheel, police said.

Surveillance footage contradicted the woman’s claim and confirmed the teenager was the only person in the car, according to an arrest report.

The other driver told police that the woman asked him to lie to officers, police said.

A woman faces a misdemeanor charge after police said she told officers that she was behind the wheel of a car involved in a crash — when it was actually her 14-year-old son in the driver's seat.

The 49-year-old woman was arrested Aug. 9 on a charge of making a false report to law enforcement and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail, according to jail records. She was released the same day on a $1,000 bond,
