For most sports fans, gymnastics won’t reenter their radar until June 2028 for Olympic Trials a month before the Los Angeles games.
However, the sport continues to churn along during the “off years.” That included the Xfinity U.S. Championships this past weekend – where two Florida gymnasts made huge statements against some of the best at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
Leanne Wong – fresh off her graduation and the end of her collegiate career in the spring – took home second place in the all-around and won the vault title. It was her second national championship. Three years ago, she won the uneven bars.
