UPPER TOWNSHIP — Mayor Curtis Corson wants to combine Upper Township’s Planning and Zoning boards into a single entity, citing potential cost savings and a dearth of applications before the boards.

“Things have been really quiet,” Corson said Tuesday morning.

He brought the proposal to the Township Committee on Monday and seemed to get a consensus in favor of the move.

“I think that makes sense. I saw the agendas. This month, there’s almost nothing,” said Committee member Tyler Casaccio, whose father, Paul Casaccio, is the Zoning Board chairman.

“Yes, we can combine the boards. Most municipalities in our region have already done that,” Corson said. “It’s a cost savings.”

Corson asked township attorney John Amenhauser to investigate the process.
