CLEVELAND, Oh - I have dogs and take great care to keep my house clean and odor-free by running an air purifier and opening windows as weather permits.

That said, I like to host my friends for various occasions. They are all aware that I have pets. Still, several of them complain about my dogs.

One friend always makes a fuss about her allergies. I have another friend who sits on the couch and plays with my dog but spends the next few hours complaining about dog hair, rubbing her eyes and saying she’s allergic.

While I enjoy my friends’ company, I’m not going to hide my dogs when they visit. My friends are aware that I have pets and choose to accept the invitation.
