HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings City Council unanimously approved a conditional use permit for a storage business to move into the old K-Mart building in the Theatre District.

The climate controlled self-storage units will share space with the Department of Health and Human Services and Fitness Escape in the building once it’s built.

City Planner, Ember Batelaan, said the final decision comes after several other possible tenants didn’t work out.

“They were looking at potentially having an indoor sports facility, but the ceiling heights were not conducive to that,” Batelaan said. “They had talked to other tenants as well and based on all of those conversations, they ended up determining that the storage units would be the best fit in that facility.“
