SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The San Angelo Police Department is advising citizens to remain vigilant when interacting with businesses after reporting "a recent increase in scam activity."
In a public statement issued on Aug. 12, the SAPD said that it "has seen a recent increase in scam activity targeting our community."
The department urged residents to verify whether a business is legitimate and accredited before hiring a company or paying for services.
"Scammers often appear convincing, but a quick check can save you time, money, and stress," the SAPD said.
The SAPD advised citizens to use digital resources such as the Better Business Bureau's online search tool to confirm whether a business is accredited. It also encouraged residents to contact the BBB with question
