The New York Yankees acquired Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers in the offseason, and may be regretting the move.
The Yankees traded Caleb Durbin and Nestor Cortes for Williams, who is going to be a free agent after the season. Williams hoped to continue dominating and set himself up for a lucrative deal. The Yankees hoped he would be a shutdown closer for them.
Instead, he has a 5.60 ERA through 49 games. He has been taken out of the closer role for the second time this year, and manager Aaron Boone revealed the plans for him moving forward.
