FOXBORO — The New England Patriots took the field on Monday for one final practice before leaving for Minnesota to take part in joint practices with the Vikings and then compete in their second preseason game.

Let's get into some observations from practice:

A rough day for the kickers

Veteran John Parker Romo and rookie Andy Borregales have been battling it out all summer as they compete for a roster spot. Both have been at the top of their games, with Romo going 32-for-33 through 13 days of camp, while Borregales has gone 30-for-34 in field goals.

However, on Monday, both struggled in the four attempts they took from 30- to 50-plus yards. Borregales went 2-of-4, while Romo went 1-of-4. Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.
