FOXBORO — After an outside fake and quick hesitation step, New England Patriots wide receiver Kyle Williams broke free of Commanders cornerback Bobby Price at the goal line — but quarterback Josh Dobbs missed him.
“I told Kyle I owe him a touchdown,” Dobbs said on Monday.
That seemed to happen over and over again during the Patriots’ Aug. 8, 48-18 win over Washington to kick off preseason. Williams’ route-running was the story of the day, but with zero catches on four targets, flashy feet weren't enough for the rookie receiver to be satisfied with his play.
“I felt like I was getting open, but some plays I feel like I could have capitalized on,” Williams said. “I’m not really proud of that.”
