Former UConn quarterback and Xavier High School standout Tim Boyle was released by the Tennessee Titans on Monday, after a rough showing in the team’s first preseason game.

The 30-year-old was the third quarterback used in Tennessee’s preseason-opening 29-7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, and he struggled mightily.

Boyle went 4-for-13 for 24 yards and threw two interceptions. He was trying to earn a spot on the team after fellow former Xavier quarterback Will Levis injured his shoulder last month and underwent season-ending surgery .

The Middlefield native was famously signed by the Jets to back up his friend Aaron Rodgers after the former MVP signed with New York in 2023. He’s played six seasons in the NFL.
