Police are investigating an incident at a Meriden cemetery where there was significant damage and vandalism done to headstones and monuments.
Police received several calls around 7 a.m. from concerned citizens reporting damage to some of the headstones and monuments at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, located at 94 Wall St, according to the Meriden Police Department .
A responding officer met with the property maintenance company as they walked the entire cemetery to note the damage, police said. During the walk, the officer reported that approximately 100 headstones, monuments and obelisks were knocked off their bases, some of the headstones that dated back to the 1800s were cracked in half and appeared unrepairable and others had gouge marks consistent with the use of a chain or cable, accord
