BOCA RATON — The fall semester at Florida Atlantic University will soon start, and many students already have been hard at work moving into their dorms this week.
Dozens of cars lined up Tuesday outside one dorm, Glades Park Towers, as students and parents used their allotted time to make trips into the rooms. Families emptied into moving carts their belongings — IKEA bags, plastic storage drawers, bean bag chairs, pillows, clothes, and cleaning supplies — before inevitably falling into brief arguments with one another in the mid-day heat.
“You can feel the energy in the air right now, but you can also feel the tinge of sadness from a lot of parents,” said parent Loretta Benson. “I’m a little sad.”
