YORK — Work on a housing development in northern York County came to an abrupt halt last week after a public works official issued an emergency stop work order, citing site management practices that were negatively affecting adjacent properties and watersheds.

On Aug. 5, York County Public Works Chief of Operations Travis Rhodes issued an order directing Forestar Group and The LaRS Group to immediately cease land disturbance and construction activities at Fenton Mill, a 292-home community being built near Lightfoot. An inspection report compiled by Rhodes and dated Aug. 2 alleged 79 violations associated with work on the 55-acre site. The stop work order remains in place until the issues cited in the inspection report have been resolved.
