SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Erin is still a weak tropical storm as of 5 p.m. Tuesday, as it is moving too fast to get organized. This along with some African dust will keep Erin from becoming a hurricane for the next couple of days as it continues moving west.
We do however expect it to turn into the season first hurricane and possibly even a major hurricane with winds greater than 110 mph on Sunday. Conditions are expected to become more favorable for strengthening late Thursday and Friday.
These favorable conditions are expected to continue over the weekend and it looks like it could become a major hurricane by Sunday morning.
The forecast track has shifted a bit on Tuesday morning with the cone now moving more south and west. This means there are some differences in the strength and posi
