The Chicago Cubs will get a boost to their lineup Tuesday, as catcher Miguel Amaya has been activated from the injured list.

In addition, the Cubs have also activated pitcher Javier Assad from the 60-day injured list ahead of their series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays.

In corresponding roster moves, the Cubs designated infielder Jon Berti for assignment, and optioned pitcher Nate Pearson back to Triple-A Iowa.

Amaya, who has been out of action since late May with an oblique strain, was having a strong season prior to going on the injured list, slashing .280/.313/.505 in 10 plate appearances for the Cubs. He has four home runs and 25 RBI’s on the season, and already had nine doubles to his credit in 27 appearances.
