Johnson County officials are moving forward with a more structured plan for paying county employees, including annual cost of living adjustments and eventually, longevity pay.
The Johnson County Council unanimously approved a pay philosophy for county employees Monday as they head into the 2026 budget season. Developing a pay philosophy was a recommendation from the company Waggoner Irwin Scheele & Associates, Inc., which recently completed a job study for the county.
Although making base pay more equitable is the first action step for the county, it was also recommended that county officials develop a pay philosophy, or a strategy that establishes criteria when positions in the same classification are paid differently.
