CHANDLER, Ariz. — A fugitive has been shot to death in the East Valley after he allegedly attempted to flee from law enforcement, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
The U.S. Marshals Service Arizona WANTED Task Force was attempting to apprehend an individual wanted on a federal probation warrant with original charges related to smuggling.
Officials said officers located the individual at a residence and continued surveillance on him as he drove away from the home. A traffic stop was attempted, and the fugitive allegedly tried to flee. Less-lethal tools were deployed to apprehend the individual, and officials said the fugitive produced a gun, which resulted in him being fatally hit by police gunfire.
No law enforcement officers were injured. The deceased person's name has not been
