Reinforcements are coming for the Chicago Cubs.

In a post via their X account , the Cubs announced several roster moves prior to the beginning of a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Chicago reinstated the duo of starting pitcher Javier Assad and catcher Miguel Amaya from the 60-day injured list.

Two roster spots were needed for those moves, so relief pitcher Nate Pearson was optioned to Triple-A Iowa and utilityman Jon Berti was designated for assignment.

Assad has not pitched in the majors at all this season after suffering an oblique strain in the early parts of spring training. Amaya began the season as the Cubs' starting catcher and was performing well before going down with an oblique injury of his own.

Pearson was a viable option to be sent down, as he has a 9.2
