A 10- to 12-foot-long great white shark was spotted swimming off Richmond Island in Maine on Monday, police said.
The Scarborough Marine Resource Officer received a report on Monday regarding a “large shark” seen near Richmond Island and Scarborough Beach, Scarborough Police said Tuesday in a Facebook post .
The Marine Resource Officer obtained drone footage on Tuesday depicting a 10- to 12-foot-long great white shark swimming near the southern end of Richmond Island, according to the department.
The drone footage was captured around 10 a.m. on Monday by David Lancaster, who took it from his watercraft, the video’s caption said.
Police said the shark was spotted a second time on Tuesday morning near Pine Point Beach, but there is no footage from that sighting.
