ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Parts of southwest Rockingham County are under a boil water advisory, according to county officials.

The advisory affects residents in the following areas:

US 220

Twin Creeks Drive

Stones Point Court

Stoney Ridge Court

Dogwood Acres Lane

Welcome Home Road

Lemons Loop

Price Farm Road

Officials are urging residents, especially those with weakened immune systems, to boil water before cooking, bathing, brushing teeth, or giving it to pets.

According to the county, bacteria can enter the water supply after heavy rain, a break in distribution pipes, or a failure in the treatment process.
