BOISE, Idaho — In a Gem State rivalry, the Boise State and University of Idaho men's basketball teams will face off on the hardwood for the first time since 2014 in the state's capital city.

The two programs on Tuesday announced they will meet in an exhibition game this fall at Idaho Central Arena before the 2025-26 season. The showdown between the Broncos and Vandals is scheduled for 7 p.m. MDT on Friday, Oct. 17.

"When discussing potential opportunities to get our fans excited for the start of the season, this was a no brainer," Boise State head coach Leon Rice said in a news release . "The state of Idaho is filled with knowledgeable and passionate basketball fans, and what better way to serve them than with the return of in-state basketball between the Broncos and Vandals.
