High school football kicks off on Aug. 22 for teams in the N.C. High School Athletic Association and N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association .

Grimsley and West Charlotte, a pair of reigning state champions, will be featured in one of the marquee matchups to open the 2025 season. Those two teams, along with Hough and South Pointe (S.C.), are playing in the Keep Pounding High School Football Classic at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.

Those games kick off at 4 p.m. and 8, with the state-title teams capping off the night.

As a new season gets underway, let’s highlight players from the Tar Heel State who are committed to play for head coach Dave Doeren and N.C. State football in the future.
