Lightning struck and caused widespread power outages in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, on Tuesday.

The Mount Pleasant Police reported the incident occurred around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 17 and Shelmore Boulevard, where the lightning strike brought down power lines across the roadway, causing outages and disrupting traffic in the area.

Dash camera footage from the police department captured the lightning strike, showing fire and thick black smoke.

While the video has drawn attention, Mount Pleasant Police said that the true highlight is the exceptional professionalism and dedication demonstrated by its officers during this chaotic and unexpected event.
