The White House celebrated new figures showing inflation held steady in July and moved to install new leadership at the agency that produced them.
Karoline Leavitt, the White House Press Secretary, said, "The America First economic agenda is working."
The Bureau of Labor Statistics released data showing inflation was stable in July. Prices fell for groceries and fuel, but increased for imports like furniture, shoes, and tires.
On Monday, President Donald Trump nominated E.J. Antoni, chief economist at the conservative Heritage Foundation, to serve as BLS commissioner.
Antoni would replace Erika McEntarfer, who was appointed by former President Joe Biden and fired by Trump earlier this month after the July jobs report showed slower hiring and steep downward revisions
