IKEA is bringing its first Alabama store to Huntsville, marking a major milestone for the state. The new 46,000-square-foot facility is set to open in the University Place Shopping Center off Research Park Boulevard early next year.
Judy Babin from Huntsville said, "I think it’s great. The shopping center probably needed another big store and a lot of people seem to be excited about IKEA."
The store will feature around 5,000 products, with 2,000 available for immediate takeaway. It will also include an 'As Is' department offering gently used and discontinued items.
Blake Mathis, owner of Johnny Gryll's, expressed optimism about the new addition. "Anything that draws people in to shop or to look at your merchandise or food, the better," he said.
