STOUGHTON, Wis. (WMTV) -An overnight storm resulted in downed trees, fallen branches, and broken power lines across Stoughton. Tuesday morning, residents and work crews were busy cleaning up.

On N McKinley St., near the intersection with N Page St., a large portion of a tree broke off, pulling a power line with it.

Community Service Officer John Basco, with the City of Stoughton Police Department, was asked to come patrol the area to ensure it would be safely handled.

“Actually, I wasn’t supposed to work today, but I was called by the department because we’ve got a number of spots and they asked me if I would come in, and I said, of course!” explained Basco.

Happy to help, Basco kept traffic from traveling through McKinley St. and kept people away from the downed power line.
