Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald announced as playing a new position in surprise decision vs. Padres

The San Francisco Giants have given Tyler Fitzgerald a new task Tuesday night:

Play right field.

Fitzgerald has not played a single inning of his MLB career with the number '9' next to his name in the scorebook, but apparently there's a first time for everything.

The Giants have been trying to figure out right field since trading away their everyday guy out there, Mike Yastrzemski, at the trade deadline.

Fitzgerald has played 17 MLB games in centerfield and four in left field, but this is new. He had been playing right field at Triple-A Sacramento to prepare for this.

Considering that he's even pitched before, the only position left for Fitzgerald to play in the majors
