LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A new program at Ivy Tech in Indiana is preparing soldiers earlier in their careers.
The school is partnering with the U.S. Army and the Indiana National Guard to start an Enlisted Training Corps program this fall.
The courses combine academic classes and hands-on training to help students develop the skills and readiness needed for roles as soldiers, technicians and specialists in active duty, the Army Reserve or the Army National Guard.
Ivy Tech is the first two-year college in the country to offer this program.
“We say we are the workforce engine of the state of Indiana, but also now we are proud to step up and say that we are the nation's public service talent pipeline as well,” Ivy Tech President Marty Pollio said.
