GRUETLI-LAAGER, Tenn. (WSMV) - A hiker suffered a fatal snake bite on a trail inside Savage Gulf State Park last week.
According to the Grundy County Emergency Management Agency, medical personnel were called to the Savage Gulf Trailhead at the end of 55th Avenue around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, August 8.
They located a male hiker who had been bitten by a rattlesnake and immediately began performing CPR on the man.

The hiker was hooked up to a mobile CPR machine, and he was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
A volunteer firefighter drove to the man’s home to get his wife, and took her to the hospital to be with him.
