Pete Alonso hit his 27th home run of the season, and the 253rd of his major league career, in tonight’s game against the Braves. The home run set a new franchise mark, eclipsing Darryl Strawberry’s previous record of 252 home runs, which has stood since 1990. Alonso matched Strawberry’s record on Saturday against the Brewers with a second inning solo home run.

Alonso’s home run came in the third inning against Spencer Strider. The ball barely made it out into the Mets’ bullpen, but Alonso got enough. Gary Cohen had a wonderful call, which you can hear below.
