Pete Alonso officially stands alone in Mets history.
After tying Darryl Strawberry’s franchise home run record with his 252nd career homer in Saturday’s 7-4 loss to the Brewers , Alonso claimed the top spot for himself during Monday night’s game against Atlanta at Citi Field .
Alonso crushed career homer No. 253 on Spencer Strider’s first-pitch, 95.1-mph fastball for a two-run, two-out homer that gave the Mets a 5-1 lead in the third.
Alonso’s 112.8-mph homer was a line drive that traveled 387 feet to right-centerfield. It was his second at-bat of the game.
Alonso has played 965 career games, all with the Mets. Strawberry played 1,109 games for the Mets.
Since he made his MLB debut on March 28, 2019, Alonso’s 253 home runs are the third-most in the league, trailing only the Yankee
