Bill Parcells often liked to say that “football is not for the well-adjusted.’’

For the sake of the Giants and Jets, here’s hoping Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are well-adjusted enough to handle the cauldron that consists of New York football fans fed up with losing.

Because both quarterbacks, who arrived here with blemishes on their respective reputations, are the linchpins to the success of their teams.

It doesn’t help the causes of either that they represent Pittsburgh’s trash — both discarded by the Steelers after one mediocre season ended in a wild-card loss.
