A $20,000 reward was announced Tuesday for information leading to the arrest of a suspected drunk driver who crashed into a North Long Beach apartment, killing a father and his 3-year-old daughter as they slept.

Octavio Montano Islas was identified as the driver in the March 1, 2022, crash around 10 p.m. at an apartment building near the intersection of Artesia Boulevard and Rose Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Jose Palacios-González died at the scene, and his daughter, Samantha Palacios, was taken to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a motion by Supervisor Janice Hahn to reestablish and increase the reward.
